# WeMotion
> WeMotion (also written "WeMotion for Mac") is free. It is a Mac app that makes motion-graphics films from a sentence. You describe the film you want, and Motion, an AI motion designer powered by Claude from Anthropic, builds a first cut while you watch. You then change it by pointing at anything on the film, or edit it by hand on a full timeline. Use an Anthropic API key, or your Claude Pro or Max plan via Claude Code.
WeMotion is an independent app. It is not made by Anthropic. It is not related to the Wemotion branding agency in Istanbul, the WeMotions iOS app, or WeMotion Wedding Films.
## Key facts
- Platform: Mac only. Apple silicon Macs (M-series), macOS 13 Ventura or later. No Windows, Intel Mac, iPad or web version today.
- Current version: 1.1.0 (installer is a signed, Apple-notarized .dmg, about 384 MB).
- Price: the app is free to download and use. A free WeMotion account (email plus a one-time code, no password, no payment) is created the first time you open the app.
- AI requirement: two ways, in this order. An Anthropic API key is the default, billed by Anthropic to your API account. Or your own Claude Pro or Max plan through Claude Code (Team and Enterprise also work): WeMotion uses the unmodified Claude Code, and you sign in with Claude Code's own login. On a plan, Motion's work counts toward that plan's usage. The free Claude plan is not supported.
- Output: exports MP4 (H.264) video up to 4K at 60 fps, encoded on the Mac's own hardware. Projects and exports are files on your Mac; there is no automatic cloud upload of projects.
- Modes: Vibe (describe and point at the film to change it) and Pro (layers, keyframes, easing curves, effects and 3D settings on a timeline).
- Typical uses: launch films, product videos, social clips, title sequences and explainers.
- Ownership: you own what you make; built-in typefaces are free to use in your films.
- Not: a stock-footage or text-to-video generator. Films are motion graphics built from edi
