# MintPDF > HTML and Markdown to PDF, as a REST API and an MCP server. No template editor, no dashboard, > no signup required to try. Markdown is styled by default so agent-written documents look right. ## What it does Send HTML, Markdown, or a public URL; get back a PDF, or a download link valid for one hour. Built for developers and AI agents that need to hand a person a finished document. ## Use it as an MCP server Remote (streamable HTTP): https://mintpdf.dev/mcp Local install: `npx -y mintpdf-mcp` Tools: generate_pdf (html or markdown in, download URL out), pdf_from_url (public URL in, PDF out). ## Use it as a REST API POST https://mintpdf.dev/v1/pdf Body: exactly one of `html`, `markdown`, `url`, plus options: format (A4, Letter, Legal, A3, A5), landscape, margin, headerText, footerText, pageNumbers, output ("pdf" for bytes, "url" for a JSON download link). No key needed for a few renders per day. Mermaid: a fenced mermaid block is rendered as a vector diagram in the PDF. Maths: KaTeX. Use $$ ... $$ for display maths and \( ... \) for inline maths. Single-dollar $...$ is deliberately NOT treated as maths, so currency in invoice tables survives. Page breaks keep code blocks, tables and blockquotes whole, repeat table header rows across pages, and never strand a heading at the foot of a page.
