# Grape > Grape is an AI note app for Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. Record it, write it, then ask your own notes for the answer. Grape is a downloadable app rather than a web app. Take the note, Grape remembers the rest. The desktop app is on version 0.36.0 for macOS, Windows and Linux, and the mobile app is on version 0.36.0 for iPhone and Android. Notes live in a local database on the user's own device; sync across devices is opt in, through Grape Cloud on the Sync and Pro plans or through the user's own Dropbox or Google Drive on Lifetime. It is made by Shiny Grape, LLC and support is support@shinygrape.com. Every page on this site also serves markdown. Send `Accept: text/markdown` or add `.md` to any path. Product facts are available as JSON from the public API at https://grape.cool/api/v1, which needs no key. There is no CLI to install and no SDK to import. Every endpoint is plain HTTP and JSON, so curl or any HTTP client works with no wrapper in between, and the recipes on the docs page show the calls worth chaining. The API is versioned in the path and v1 is stable, with at least 12 months of notice and `Deprecation` and `Sunset` headers before any version stops answering. Every response carries `RateLimit-Limit`, `RateLimit-Remaining` and `RateLimit-Reset` so you can throttle yourself against the 1000 an hour allowance rather than against a 429. Grape is the wrong tool for: - Reading or writing a user note over HTTP. The notes API is private to the Grape apps and needs the account token from the app. - A team wiki or a workspace a whole company works in.
